11/10 Stress-less Life

Post  RichieO on Wed Nov 09 2011, 18:27

At one time or another we all have a ‘Day of all Days’
How do we cope with the stresses and strains of that day and our normal Life.

Where: would you go to get away from things
When: would you do it
How: would you do it (Dreams or a special place to hide)

Look into your mind and see where you can go, then imagine your there…..!!!

Worries Which Trouble Me

Candles flicker in the low light
Sunlight strains to pass through
Stained glass windows to brighten
The gloom within this large room
A single aisle with pews either side
Leads to a long table on which stands
A large Golden Cross for all to see.

Inside the room it feels cold and musky
A thin mist of dust hangs on the air
Caught on the fingers of light and
Hovering on the cold dank air
I look to see that I am alone
Inside this small Church in Wales
Left to reflect upon the torment and
Darkness inside my mind.

There is quietness all around
Albeit the sound soft tones of a Choir
Coming from speakers hidden within these walls.
With a sad heart I listen to their singing
Their Angelic voices that reach my ears

As I sit here alone on this Pew
I wonder why do we get hurt
For why do we love so badly
Why do we say we shall love
And promise to remain true for life
Why do others wish to steal that love
Could they not find someone else
How will I cope when that love is lost
When ones heart is broken and sadness
Settles in, where do we find comfort
Can it be in the darkest regions of our mind?

A romance once found on a Holiday camp
A first kiss upon a train which is small
Continued when we met again in a bar
A Wimpey in Camden town
It now ends here inside this church
On hot and stuffy Bank Holiday day.
Will I ever love again I ask myself
Will time heal my aching heart
The answer is still at large
For I have never loved like I did before
So now I get away and try to be free
Of the worries which trouble me.

This is a really good prompt Rich! Hummmmm . . . I'm creating my special place in my mind right now. Hope to be back soon.

Your poem hits it right too! Good writing, Sir.

My quiet place

Working in a Hospital
Used to drive me up the wall
People always chasing me
Nowhere to hide at all

It used to drive me crazy
The stress would get to me
Until I felt like shouting
For God sake leave me be

Then one day I discovered
A place that wasn’t theirs
A wheelchair and a table
Hidden under the stairs

So for half an hour a day
I’d say to myself who cares
Come dinner time at Twelve
I’m hiding under the stairs

It didn’t stop the problem
But for a while every day
My own little space, my quiet place
Helped my troubles go away

I Walk Alone

I walk alone upon this path
On this land which is wild and free,
Vast is this space which surrounds and embraces me. The sound of bleating sheep reaches my ears,
An overture of bird song in the distance I can but hear.

While pausing to rest I do but feel upon the air
A sound so silent, that feels all around.
A feeling of solitude grips my heart.
I now feel free from burdens of everyday life.

As Natures air fills my lungs I breathe so quietly, in the midday sun.
I look across the Moor and I do but see a Hawk hovering upon the wind.
As I watch it swoops and grabs it prey
With its prey held tightly in talons it flies away.
In that moment nature has paved its way.
I wonder in awe can life be that easy for me.

Upon this Moor I do but feel, free of the burdens that worry me.
Dartmoor is but a bleak and lonely place.
I think it’s time for me to get lost in my mind
And then...... "Richard put the kettle on" ......back to reality I do now find.
“Oh this life of mine”

Stress-free Fantasy

Post  jinettyx on Thu Nov 10 2011, 04:39

Stress-free Fantasy

Whenever life has got me down
And things just don’t seem right
I close my eyes and suddenly
My mind goes somewhere bright

I travel to another realm
Where fantasy takes hold
Where fairies dance in woodlands
Where trees are painted gold

Where everyone is friendly
And they never put you down
And I travel in pixie coaches
For the price of half-a-crown

Where stress is not an option
Only beauty shines out loud
My fantasy world is my solace
Away from the maddening crowd

And when I open up my eyes
I find that the stress I thought I had
Was really a waste of effort
And for that I’m really glad

Yes, you know I am a dreamer
And Fantasy is my stuff
But if you’re feeling down and out
Just close your eyes and ……Poof !!!

Away, Away I Flew

Post  BC Williams on Thu Nov 10 2011, 16:22

.................................................

If I could know time would stop and wait upon a dreamers shelf,
I'd soar on winds to a mountainside and rest in a peaceful dell.

I'd roam cracks and probe the caves, I'd look for plants and nests of birds,
and peak just neath the slickest rocks to see what might occur.

Perhaps a discovery is pausing there; then a scurry or disquieted leap
and all-at-once, my heart might skip when a wee wild creature creeps!

I think I'll dream of an aqua stream with trout as gentle as lover's hands -
those water-angels dance for me while swaying tail fins fan.

Then off I'll fly where the headwinds soar to catch my breath with faith renewed . . .
but ever remember that magical day when away, away I flew.

Jinetty, I always thought you would go the Fairies, lovely poem though. Do you think the Fairies/Pixies are at the bottom of your garden?....I know when I look out into my garden at night there are little lights on. Then I remembered that it was from the ornaments around my pond.

Bev, that was a lovely poem without saying, being up there in the clouds is a great feeling. When I was Rock Climbing I felt the same when I reached the top. Having climbed to the top and listen to the wind well, it's truly out of this world.

Adult to her Inner Child !

Post  Sue McDonald on Thu Nov 10 2011, 22:05

Hello little girl, so sweet and innocent
who survived so much hurt and pain,
that was not meant ?!
Your eyes would look sad, though your face had a smile,
under it all was a confused and hurt child.

I would just like to say, that of you I'm so proud
of your loving and caring, the friendship and sharing,
the hurt was so deep, that it troubled your sleep
I know as a child, you were scared to shout loud.

Sharing the pain, we halved the strain
that then made us make contact again
contact with each other, that should never have stopped,
but, because of abuse, we both lost alot.

I'm so glad I found you, hiding inside
even though you were crying, shivering and wild,
crying from hurt, shivering from anger
wild that this child's left with thoughts to meander

Glad that I found you, to tell you the truth,
that I never stopped wanting to have you around
your a true loving child, adult now to
we've both found new friendship, to last our life through.

I love you dear child, for you are what I am
now we're healing and cheering, having some fun
if the hurt creeps back in we just sit down and write
get rid of those feelings that haunt through the night.

No more cruel limits on what we can do
we've grown together, away from hurt home,
A family now we've created with pride,
with NO hurtfull feelings and husband by side.

If anything good can be salvaged from hurt
its to never pass on any kind of distress
to an innocent child with a smile on her face
nobody know's that she's hurt and disgraced.

To my inner child, we are very strong,
though the path that we took, really seemed very long
we finally made it with smiles, not disgrace
now in this world we take OUR valued place !

From me to you and you to me
I'll love you daily, keep your spirit free !.. xx

Dear Sue,

How can you truly have peace if you don't deal with those demons from the past? You've made it your life's endeavor to heal . . . you'll not have solace without visiting that place to put it behind. So . . . your poem is very appropriate for this prompt! You go girl. give flowers

Hey everyone,

I just wanted to say I'm honored to see you each take the time to honor one another with comments in this forum. Prompting is not a competition - it may not even be your best work. Prompts are a way to force our minds to look at a subject either head on or through a veil, and then write from our abilities. Some are very creative, and some are still working on their powers of imagination . . . but all who enter here bring a dish to the table.

Thank you for your comments and active participation! Remember, commenting is good for a writer's soul . . ..

Waterfall... of Tears !

Post  Sue McDonald on Fri Nov 11 2011, 18:33

Laying in the bed, try to clear my mind,
try to think of happy thoughts,
solid sleep I seek to find,
I feel the wetness, on my cheek and then...

Peaceful sleep unknown to me,
my bodys gone all weak,
I've relaxed down, my breathings slow,
I'm now allowed to sleep.

A country walk, my soul does stroll
where natures beauty reigns,
the birds that sing, the breeze so cool,
just whispers past my cheek.

I hear the distant rumble, of water over rocks
feel the force of natures pull, its power such a shock,
feel the mist upon my cheek, as I'm pulled towards the creek,
the waterfall is calling me, I wish I wasn't weak.

The moistures getting heavier, as I walk along the track,
the rumbling like thunder, as the sky is turning black,
the waterfalls now reaching out, its calling loud my name
as droplets over moss rocks, get heavier with the rain.

I sit amongest the dampened grass, as thoughts fall from my mind,
would so love to sit beside the waterfall, with peacefull dreams to find,
crystal shards from waterfall, break cooling mirrored pool
rippling rings flow out to reach, the mouth of newborn foal.

Natures gathered all around, waterfall with deafening sound,
weathers changing very fast, the breeze, some speed has found.
I feel my breathing pick up pace, as I wake from deepened dream,
I hear and feel my heartbeat fast, as a trickle breaks the theme.

Like waterfall from heavy rain, tears run a torent stream,
instead of over mossrocks, grass so green and mirrored pool,
they run along my nose and cheek, then end up on my pillow
I realise it's all a dream, I cry and sob and scream.

Pain of loss and also hurt, is hard to comprehend
especially when your trying hard, to not go round the bend !
One day, when I least expect it, the trickling will stop
then somehow, unlike the waterfall, the flow may finally stop.
