Ocean Blues
Though I ride a crest, I see a trough coming
And then count myself sorely tested,
Tossed as an errant cipher to the bin
Or standing proud as a peacock combing
Plumage, the best on which my eyes rested.
Though I ride a crest, I see a trough coming,
Buoyant, Devil-may-care, let’s go again,
Down the sloping sides ‘til we are bested,
Tossed as an errant cipher to the bin.
Mended, I answer the call for roaming,
And each day I’ve a lifetime invested.
Though I ride a crest, I see a trough coming.
Sliding from a manic high I begin,
No answers for clemency requested,
Tossed as an errant cipher to the bin.
Normal is a point I swing through going
Up and down, and if you’re interested,
Though I ride a crest, I see a trough coming,
Tossed as an errant cipher to the bin.

Re: Ocean Blues
That sounds about right for life having troughs and riding high on wave only to be tossed in the bin.
Nice poem Mike Ilike the way you write old chap.
