Judgemental Ornamentals

Post  Lucie on Fri Mar 23 2012, 04:59

In a garden full of flowers
Stands alone, the common weed
Never planted from a bulb
Or ever sown from any seed
And although it holds no heaven scent
Nor velvet follage, green
It offers protection to younger shoots
And a bloom i've never seen.
Not all things good are packaged
And planned for full effect
Sometimes nature throws a nice surprise
That you may have not select'd
So don't go on face values
Then be so quick to judge and scold
F'sometimes, those that don't quite fit the norm'
Are the one's worth their weight in gold!

(c) Lu

Lucie, you've shared with us a bit of wildflower poetry and I enjoyed it very much. As I see it does for you as well, nature provides a great many of my more precious images from (toward) which to write. Thank you. Mike give flowers

Weeds, now they're the most easiest flower to grow I know I have hundreds in mine. LOL no need to get the old compost out for these little beauties.
Love nature Lucie, walking in the countryside and along riverbanks brings ideas into my head for poems.
Very nice to think of the less spotted flowers in the garden, they are sometimes Blooming Good. You've given the poor weed a place in your poem, so don't go running for the weedkiller.....
Nice poem Lucie Like red star sunny

Some of the most beautiful flowers I have seen were growing wild alongside of the road, stretching on sometimes field after field. I like your poem a lot and it brought memories of fields of wild flowers. Thanks for the memories.
