On Life

Post  mikeschultz on Tue Mar 27 2012, 16:50

Baited and barbed like a bull or a bear
We’re made to bellow and bluster and
Bear down on the fellow with the barb
And spear, to fight and to kill him if we
Can or dare. Remarkable isn’t it the way
We become accustomed to living it raw?

Modern primitivism, much more than a
Misunderstanding between generations,
It is living so closely with nature that one
Hasn’t far to fall from grace to a grave.
And when the earthen vessel is returned
To the ground its nutrients are gathered
Up to the sun in the uplifted arms of trees
While its age blackened bones disappear.

Deep poem. Kind of dark and raw. I like it.

Yes, very deep and a bit like peeling layers of old paint off. The Bible says, "there is nothing new under the sun." The more civilized we become, the more barbaric our nature grows.

Deep, dark and still are the waters of my life. Ah-choo! Sorry, I'm allergic to BS. doh Just kidding. Thanks, Bev. I liked the "peeling layers of old paint" as another domestic illustration of peeling the layers of an onion. Cool. Take care.
