Beyond Window 3 Empty Beyond Window 3

I

A maelstrom of red and dark shadows draws
The eye over the white and black piano keys.
The party’s over and a thrown boutonnière
Rests on the silent keys. Where are the fingers
To lift the rose and caress to coax music, a waltz
Perhaps, something to do justice to beauty.

II

We know “a rose by any
other name would smell as sweet,”
And we all know the story
of how the rose got its thorns.

You romantics might love this
to death (a figure of speech).
The theme of Romeo and
Juliet played to a scent

As fresh as the rose still brimming
with life and not yet plucked.

III

Some roses are red,
but they do not bleed.
Violets are blue,
but they’re seldom sad.
Play a little blues,
and make our hearts glad,
to ease pangs of dread.
Unbound hearts are freed.

Ah, so fragrant with words true to the beauty of a rose. You've mix the two genres perfectly, purest beauty of a rose and the majesty of a well played piano. Mike, you're unstoppable!

I always wonder why are the piano keys white and black, why not some other color like blue and teal ?

You have made the flowers sing and the music sweet with this poem, thank-you for the share Mike =) Like Like Like a Star @ heaven Like a Star @ heaven
