*TAG* ...the match

Post  Lucie on Mon Apr 23 2012, 03:55

Upon a chequered velvet lawn
The players take their mark
anticipating one last stretch, afore
The whistle blows the start.

Then, "THWACK!" a mighty kickoff
Begins the game in play
The leather ball spins through the air
the teams hunt it like their prey.

Then Jimmy jumps a header
It bounces off the Ref,
The Ref' he throws a paddy
With flailing arms and looks of death.

The crowd syked with adrenalin
Are halted at 1st frame
A disappointed 'sigh' released
As the game restarts again!

A 'THWAK' a 'ROAR' a rumble,
Of boots kicking up the turf
Sounding like stampeding rhino's
AS they shove each others girth.

Then all too soon a tackle
ha ssent a player through the air
he double flips and somersaults
To land, with melodramatic flair..

He rolls around and grabs his knee
and wails like a baby in a panic
whilst team membershold their heads in grief
sending for the paramedic.

And who should blow the whistle
but that raging ref before
Only now he fans a fist o'cards
( he'll send him off f'sure)

And its all so too predictable
As the offenders off the pitch
the injured party bounces back
Like the flicking of a switch!

I don't know why I watch it
Cos each games like any other
Same strategy to win the match
Just in a different colour!

...

Hello, Lucie. I apologize for not taking up the challenge to continue the story, but I don't know much about sports. That and I have been frightfully busy these past few weeks. Maybe next time. Thanks. Mike

The ball is placed upon the field
where the offender caused the fall.
Opposing players stand ten yards
from the ball to create a wall,
as the Ref counts the distance
strides and all.

Brave players stand and face,
the player, who's about to kick
the ball, their faces show some
fear, as they cup their lower regions....
and you should know where...?

Whistle blows, the game restarts.
"THWAK"
an almighty shot for goal is made
by the player who had the fall.
The crowd ROAR an almighty
"Ooooooooh" then "Ahhhhhhhhhh"
as the ball soars over the bar.....!!
Thoughtful sighs of relief are seen
from the players who held their
crown jewels...?

Over to you Lucie.......!!

Jimmy the goal shooter
who missed the shot.
Looks towards the players pit,
he notices a red faced setter,
dogging up and down the line.
It was his manager about replace
him for barking about.

The Keeper places the ball
upon the line for a goal kick.
“THWAK”
The ball flies skywards two bodies,
jump high to meet the ball.
It bounces off their heads and
falls to the feet of the Striker man.

Striker man takes up the ball as he
dribbles towards the opponents goal.
Approaching the goal the defenders,
do rush to stop a shot for their goal.
But alas the Striker sees a hole
and kicks the ball towards the goal.

The ball goes straight and fast
has it heads towards the goal.
The keeper can see the ball and
proceeds to dive across the goal.
But alas the ball strikes a defender
and deflects so neatly into the back
of the net.

“Gooooooaoaaaaaal”................!!!
The crowd go wild as the striker,
runs around with his shirt over
his face. His team mates rush to
hug and kiss as they celebrate
his finest goal to boot.......!!
