Welcome Home!

Post  Sue McDonald on Sat Feb 15 2014, 02:52

We stand in patience
we stand in awe
City of Adelaide,
clipper ship, we applaud !

You float their in glory
you float there with grace
with the help of the barge
you'll soon take your pride of place !

United we watch you,
united we wait
united we'll help
restore you at home base

Your home where your wanted
with people so proud
''Old girl'' your a legend
and your back on home ground !

May we all join together
and restore you with love
heal the wounds of exposure
from below to above.

Well over a century, since you graced our shores
returning with scars of neglect and decay,
Give us some time to raise funds and repair
to restore you to glory for our children to share,

In the history created, on now depleted wood decks,
to the visions and sounds from the haunting ''crow's nests
City of Adelaide, our ''beaut' clipper ship,
Welcome Home, be patient, we'll soon have you ''shipshape''

Very nice description of an historic and personal event, one I am glad to say that as a retired sailor I fully applaud and understand. I felt as if I stood with you to watch the noble ship come home. Thanks for sharing.
