Come My Lady Come

Post  Teresa Jane Price on Thu May 26 2011, 12:38

Come My Lady Come

The old man sat upon the stool,
And told of days long since gone.
Spoke did he of his silver haired wife,
And a son who now laid neath marble.
Memories did he retrieve,
While staring into the bar mirror,
Revealing emptiness as he recited
Poetic verses of a despairing yen.

Come, my lady, come.
Soar upon this despited life,
Spread your angel wings
So, I may behold my wife.

His eyes fixed upon reflection,
And his face paled with sadness,
Memories webbed his dreams
And cocooned with pity and doubt,
As the old man stared at himself,
Teary eyed, drunk and lonely.
And just as his silence came
And not unlike moments before,
He spouted the teasing hope
In a poem, spun as if a chant.

Come, My lady, come.
This earth has no need of me.
For too long am I in a dream
Of your beauty and eternity.

Come, My lady, come.
Has not God had you long enough?
For I pray to him to release you
So I may again know your love.

Come, my lady, come,
And be no more a reminder
In that of a rose or moon aglow,
But in prances of that of lovers.

Come, my lady, come.
Shine upon me some bliss,
Removing this damning sadness,
And give unto to me a bless.

Come, my lady, come.
Be that I have dreamt,
Naying the tiredness of wait
So, our love will be eternally spent.

And rise did he from his perch,
To leave in the darkness.
And as he, I too rose and left
Into the night and far from the Ale
Toward the brick walls of a home.
And once there, my eyes caught
The preciousness of surprise.
For neath the table light
Laid a red rose and note.

Come, my lady, come.
I am sorry for that I done.
For my love is eternal,
So, come, my lady, come.
