Jane Eyre

Post  Robert Anderson on Tue Jun 28 2011, 14:22

Jane Eyre

Look to the pupils in my eyes
Into thunderous hoofs that clap dark skies
Where lightening strikes the trees flown by
In wind that howls from moon that’s nigh
And spurs that bleed the horses thigh’s

Galloping, galloping, shake the fear
Whispers, chanting through my ears
Screams from dreams that haunt so clear
As sanity turns, to madness near
That twists and turns inside my mind
In goblets of wine I search to find
The courage to face where I've been blind
Hereditary of what, is this, my kind

This stagnant of class affiliate
Has left me thinking all too late
Trapped in titles and estate
Harboured lies of which I hate
Secrets become what I create
Lost and sealed within my fate
Now demons guard my gate

What does stem from times past bye
This creation of man made lie
She screams in darkness from tower high
To feel a guilt in thoughts I try
Must I live within her cry
This tortured nightly lullaby
Will she ever die, I sigh
A tear runs from my eye

And set me free to love again
Release me from this nagging pain
There’s no refrain for me to gain
Is there not a thought, that’s sane?
Take me to my thoughts of Jane
The moor is calm within her name
This gentile person within a frame
So silently pale and alluringly plain
If what, our classes were the same
But not her shoulders, leys the blame
This upper class where harbours shame
She haunts my soul but calms my brain
So whose to say where life’s mundane
If theirs, are thoughts, that’s lame

For what is man within his shell
Eating , drinking till bodies swell
Living in purgatory before his hell
Who to trust for who to tell
Who to buy then whom to sell
I know my madness all too well
Calling me within her spell
From tower above in hidden cell

Curse these thoughts within these nights
Damn these moors of withering heights
Ride my steed till break of light
Speed is all to lose my plight

Faster, faster to console
As danger makes a man feel whole
To take the rains where in control
Of love, where love evades my soul
So gallop, gallop towards my goal
Before this madness takes it’s toll

Cast this caution to the wind
Is there anyone that’s never sinned
In life for hope for what is sought
Would this be given a second thought
But towers scream within the night
And candles flicker within eye sight
Through doors that lead to you, my wife
I’ve locked away with madness rife
Is all I know to preserve her life

But life is not for just the few
This is nothing new in clue
I need to free myself from you
I search to love without this pain
That’s slowly driving me insane
I have to leave this past behind
From where I’ve been to long confined
As Jane and me are one in kind
This bond we have so rare to find
Within my twisted heart and mind

So faster, faster, to happiness there
For I can love without a care
Turn this mindless, maddening flair
Where leafs that swirl from trees now bare
And all but mist that’s in my stare
To eyes that love and flowing hair
Awaiting me with skin so fair
In visions of Jane, my sweet Jane Eyre

Good gracious Bobby! Oh how I wish you could move past, yet I find myself helplessly drawn into your discomfort; like so many before you, it's your pain that drives your muse!

This gentile person within a frame
So silently pale and alluringly plain

Wonderful art . . . and the painting . . .I could spend hours studying and probably not find every intent.

Thank you for sharing your talent in this forum. Refreshing!

Hiya again

Post  Robert Anderson on Fri Aug 26 2011, 07:28

I will post something soon Bev, I have The Canadians here next Friday for a fortnight and so I am getting everything ready for them. I am also working on a very powerful Glasgow Painting for the exhibition here In June/July as I go to Canada for that exhibition in February So this will have to be finished before I leave, Then I am off to Tuscany , in June /July???? ,(They are going to sort all this out with Paul (Glasgow curator) when they get here. So right now I am trying to pull all this together. I am also writing a new piece ha ha ! So you can see I am in a bit of a predicament , ha ha !

Robert,

I enjoyed your poems very much, and most specially your poem, "Jane Eyre." I especially like that you paint also and write poetry with the strokes. I wish you all the best on your coming exhibitions and look forward to reading more of your work. Thank you for posting and sharing. Mike

PS I've just enjoyed my third Robert Burns Night Supper. The first was in 1985 at the naval base at Faslane, Scotland. This past event was my first hosting, and it went over well, introducing a dozen of my friends to the joys of Robert Burns' poetry.

PPS Believe it or not, I am half Irish and half Scot. My mother's maiden name is Galloway, and I am a third generation American-Scotsman. Again, thanks for sharing. Take care, and may God bless you in all your endeavors.
