10/20 "Who Said Boo?"

Post  BC Williams on Thu Oct 20 2011, 19:10

First topic message reminder :

"WHO Said BOO?"
A Halloween Prompt
A long time ago, someone thought it would be cool to have a special night where little ghosts and goblins could run from door to door begging treats or tricks . . .
Around a dark corner a might lurk
a black might cross your path
a might swoop down beside your feet

or a might conjure her wrath!
On every step creaking, sit -
their eyes search for ghoulies of night,
and eager children dressed up for the eve
will gobble their with
affraid

Good Luck . . . and be so very careful BOoooooooooo!

Ah Dori . . . Haunting at the B! I kinda thought you'd like that, calling BpoetryWriters the 'B'. And what a cool application of the prompt! AND, there may be a haunting at the B, for have you noticed all the color changes? The site just seems to have a mind of it's own lately:-)

Good writing sweetie . . .

The Halloween Party

Post  Sue McDonald on Tue Oct 25 2011, 04:06

As I walked into the dimly lit kitchen
there were eyes of all different sizes
a bowl full of blood splatterd noses
and ears all shrivelled and slimey

There were fingers and thumbs on the table
tounges just left laying around
spiders and snakes and crystalized mice
then a crackling noise on the ground

These items I've seen somewhere else
they were put in their place on a shelf
where goblins and gnomes couldn't reach
and children might not rot their teeth

I turned up the light in the kitchen
heard giggling under the table
I bent down to see eight bright eyes
glowing back through tiny white peep holes

Four noses all sticky and gooey
from the slime laden treasure retrieved
four mouths all full of sweet mice
no room for lizards or lice

Halloween goodies were opened
by the wizard of go seek and find
Lucas the brain had Gabby well trained
and Riley and Noah all coated

The lollies enjoyed by all four
had left overs stuck to the floor
some ears eyes and noses
fingers and toes
My Grandchildrens Halloween Ball

The Old Cauldron

Post  jinettyx on Tue Oct 25 2011, 14:47

The Old Cauldron

I know of a place, just out of town
Where the finest of diners eat out
A swanky affair, with debonair flair
Where is this place? You all shout!

It’s a favourite of mine, this place that I dine
Where the chef cooks a wicked menu
No ordinary place, just look at my face
Now, come on, would I lie to you?

The Old Cauldron, does sit, high on the hill
It’s shadowed by knobbly old trees
And if you book now, you’ll be served by a cow
And nothing will be served up with peas!

If it’s variety you need, try the seaweed
It’s as tasty as frog jam and spread
Eat slowly, with caution, have only one portion
Or you’ll be as sick as a parrot instead!!

I once had, for starters, some frilly pink garters
And dunked them in green froggie soup
And it had to be said, that the soft tadpole bread
Went down rather nicely en-route

My main was quite simply, a plate full of pimply
Enriched with po-toad-oes in slime
Jellied eyeballs with sinew, my appetite then grew
Lizard lollipop for dessert was sublime!!

Oh the choices to make, while the chef, he doth bake
There is nothing that would not suffice
Bat-wing pudding and cake, anything he will make
And whatever you choose will taste nice!!

Who said Boo?

Post  Cheryl Brickner on Tue Oct 25 2011, 15:49

Witches Brew

Stirring and stirring and stirring we go!
Toss it all in before it blows!
A touch of rabbit foot, a dash of imp ears,
Around and around we stir til it glows!
Smoke and brimstone underneath
for our heat.
Sooner or later it will become a big treat!
Ah! Ha! Ha! We sing and chant
While we stir and stir and do a dance!
For Halloween is round about!
Here we come to scream and shout!
Watch out liitle ones and don't be tricked.
If you see an ole witch just give her a kick!
Make sure you get the best of treats!
Run door to door and shout trick or treat!

If I'da knowed all I had to do to get poetry outta you peoples was kick up a prompt about Halloween, I'da done it long ago! I *think* this thing has the most poems ever. Might be wrong. What do you think Peter? LOL!

Well Jin and I are steppin out to The Old Cauldron sans the boys. I know my boy's taste is a bit immature for such fare:-) Later, we'll meet them for drinks on the veranda. We'll forget to mention there's pulverized Guano powder in the mixed drinks. It's protein, you know . . .

Now Cheryl, didn't know you specialized in witches brewing. Who'da thunk it? But I'm glad you do for you'd not have been able to share the recipe with us! I'm afraid it's a dying art. Good we're keeping this diary of the the old ways. Maybe we'll make a cookbook, lol!

Great writing BOTH of you.

See Pete, I told you . . . look below . . .

The Three ''W's'' !

Post  Sue McDonald on Tue Oct 25 2011, 17:23

Wizards Warlocks and Witches
the main ingredients for Halloween
add goblins lizards and snakes
then you've a night that could make you scream

They concoct their brews and spells
with evil thoughts smells and thrills
adding a few bitter critters
the green potionis getting much thicker

Some seem to think that this happens
on this, one night of fear
this haunting night so full of fright
the Three ''W's'' fearfully cheer

They have practised all year long
so much time to make their spells strong
their special night the tasting night
they won't worry if it's wrong

No matter what the outcome
of lumpy slime green potion
joy comes from the reaction
of the humans throat contraction

They stand and stir with glee
with discarded bones from tea
three fibulas held by the fibroids
as they laugh making cackling noise

This night of Halloween
as the doors are rat-a-tat tatted
will you open the door with a smile
if the Three ''W's'' offer you their green vile ? !

O my God Bev, that made me jump lol

The thing is
1; We have some new writers that want to join in, and that is helping
2; It is a subject that most people like and
3; They want to try and catch me up ha ha ha ha ha

Trouble is that as soon as they do I can start again and sling in another 6. (Jin)

We definitely hit the spot with this one, I really hope we can keep it up with the other prompts..

What we need more of, is members setting Prompts. The ideas are out there that's for sure.

Righto Pete. Sue and Jin have both done wonderfully creative prompts. We need MORE. I remember Ali had a winner too:-) Prompts are limitless . . .

So come on authors, who will be next to throw out a prompt for us? Would you like to have a sort of schedule? get folks lined up, like for instance:

Sue - Oct 26 or 27
Jin - Oct 30 or 31
Pete- Nov 3 or 4
Dori- Nov 7 or 8 . . . .

Something like that? Would you all notify Pete or me by PM when you're ready with a prompt, then we can get you on a schedule. We could post it as an announcement, so if you forget your time you can GET your reminder. Maybe I'll post a prompt schedule, then we can fill it in as you all contact us . . .

I like the 5 day period. It's not in stone, but if it is a dud prompt (I've had a couple, lol) we can move on in 5 days.
