Three Wishes, Two Seasons, One Land

Post  Sue McDonald on Sat Oct 22 2011, 23:31

Three wishes
Two seasons
One land
These words just came into my head
as I stood on the banks in the heat
loving the visional view
yet wishing for some sort of cool .....

Its Springtime in this country
weather rather warm
while thinking back to homeland
my heart feels rather torn

November she is looming
just around the bend
with bonfires and fireworks
warm clothing is the trend

As I sit by our river
the seeds of weeds drift by
the only snow that we will get
as our temperatures way to high

I love the country choosen
to live in and to grow
the people and the places
the beauty she has to show

As I watch the white seeds drifting
swift across the sky
I convert them into snowflakes
well at least in my minds eye

I watch the black swans coated
in my converted summer snow
and think of them as winter geese
theres no one around to know

The aircon which we're blessed with
is turned right up to high
I relax and enjoy the coldness
that I can't see with my eyes

I drift off to sleep
the coolness calming my brow
dreaming of snow covered willows
and the roads being cleared by snow ploughs

As I wake I gaze out of the window
realising how lucky I am
to be living my life on the river
seeing nature when ever I can

So why am I writing this poem
where are the words coming from
to be honest I don't really know
I just know that I am and I can

The title is strange in its self
first three lines just popped
upon the screen
then the rest came along and joined in
wanting to create a cool scene

Three wishes ? well I have them
Family health and some peace
Two Seasons ? Play inside my mind
Summer Swans and Winter Geese !

One Land ? We all do live in
seasons differ here and there
its a land we need to care for
after all.....it's one WE ALL SHARE ...

Ahh Sue, You have a beautiful way of sharing what you're thinking....
We all look out from a window somewhere and think of other places we might like to be according to the weather. I actually like to wrap up warm and walk out in the cool crisp air rather than sit and bake under a sweltering sun.....I adore your poetry and pictures. give flowers

It's almost like what we call in prose, streams of consciousness writing. Sort of an internal dialog sort of thing. Beautifully written Sue. I was wondering . . . you've lived in Australia for many many years now, but I know you're from the UK. Do you talk with an Aussie brogue yet? Very Happy

Thanks for sharing your Three Wishes, Two Seasons, One Land!

Hugs, bev

That's neat Sue. Sometime, I'd like for you to record some poetry to put on here. I can get you the particulars. Fred has done a lot of it in the past. I've done a bit. I'd love to hear you!

Oh I bet I would . . . I love brogues and accents:-) I do a fairly nice UK thing, lol! When my friend John, from Sidney calls, David has a heck of a time understanding him. It took me awhile, but after so many years, it's better! Now, BOBBY'S the one . . . . Mercy, especially when he's laughing, lol!

Map: you mean like this:

Yep thats it just a fraction more to the right as you look at the map Bev, well done !
My husband said when he first met me he could hardly understand me as I spoke so fast bit, of a welsh trait I think !
I love watching out for progams on T.V around Wales just to hear the accent, South Wales has a much softer accent than North Wales, they are very harsh in their accent there !
