Sylvia
Writing of someone I hardly know
is rather daunting, so I'm taking it slow.
We have spoken on the phone maybe once or twice -
there was kindness in her voice, she sounded rather nice.
The person I am speaking of
is with her maker now.
No more pain or suffering,
or wiping of her brow.
Charles, Mum is reaching out to you
by giving me some words.
Her remembrance of Sylvia,
she would so like to be heard.
I say I hardly knew her,
haven't seen her in a while.
The way mum talks about her
I know Sylvia was her idol.
Sylvia was someone
my mum so adored.
She spoke of all her loving ways,
her gentleness and pose.
She was someone mum looked up to,
always smiling, always there.
Thousands of miles parted them,
a phone call away, again they could share.
Remembering all the good times
mostly happy and some sad.
Mum now reads over letters sent
through years of separation had.
I've heard that she loved riding
with long hair trailing the skies.
I've heard of radiant beauty,
how the sun shone from her eyes.
She used to give mum dresses.
One that mum recalls was
a lovely green and blue check.
Mum was eleven, it reached the floor!
Mums friend had an umbrella
the same green and blue check.
Mum felt like Doris Day,
Sylvia said, "You look beautiful, my pet!"
She was a cousin so devoted.
Held in high esteem,
an epitome of a lady,
never nasty, never mean.
Sylvia's parents were so loved
by their devoted daughter.
Her brothers and her family
were always loved and thought of.
Sylvia was a lady with a smile upon her face.
Always thought so positive, never acted in disgrace.
Loved the world around her, her family divine
said she thanked the lord each day for Charles,
her greatest friend and find.
God bless you Sylvia......R.I.P.
