Stationary suicide

Post  Lucie on Mon Mar 26 2012, 05:37

The desk top sat in silence.
All the implements, amazed
This crime scene needed answers
For the Rubber had been erased!

So who had been responsible
For obliterating him?
The Desk Lamp acted shady
But was renowned for being dim.

And showing from the evidence
They hadn't commited it alone,
The clues came from the messages
Stored by the Mobile Phone.

And scattered on the table
Lay particles of lead.
When questioned for an alibi
The Pencil lost his head.

Whilst all around the pressure rose
Suspicion lay with anyone
As office weapons were of common place
For instance, Staple had a gun!

It appeared through all the commotion
The Dictaphone threw out a word
That Ruler was too straight to have
Commited affence, how absurd!

The questioning went on f'hours
The Paper folded at the news
"How could anyone have done it.."
Fax had bleeped, then , blew a fuse..

The Pencil's they all crumbled
The Laptop lost it's ping,
Glue had got himself in a sticky mess
As sobbed Scissors, cut up 'bout whole thing.

But as the day drew to a close
Ink Pen concluded witha votive
This mystery must be resolved
And Letter Opener pointed motive.

So back into the drawing room
The implements did shuffle
It was announced that words had crossed
Which caused the pair to scuffle.

And in an act of fury
Sharpener spun into the scrum
An' accidently shaved off Rubbers head,
Poor Rubber was almost done.

His screaming was horrific
Letter Opener, still in rage
Ran and jabbed to stop his cries
And then wrapped him in a page.

So Letter Opener and Sharpener
were sent very far away
To work off their blades til' blunted
At the very busy daily In-Tray!

Absolutely clever and lovely. I thoroughly enjoyed reading your poem three times through. A good read. Though I am writing most is short forms, I do like a lengthy poem, one you can sink your teeth into (so to speak) and settle down for a good read. Thanks for sharing yours and for writing such clever and interesting poems. Way to go!

You do have a way with words and a great imagination. Had me a good chuckle with this one. Too cute!
