Where did you go?

Post  Sue McDonald on Tue Mar 22 2011, 06:07

Sitting by the river no one by my side,
seems my mother's friendship went out with the tide!
I don't know where it went wrong, or why she went this way.
At this time in my life, thought she was here to stay.

Waters gently lapping on sand so soft and smooth,
tears run down my cheeks, wondering why can life be cruel.
The key to home been taken, was asked to give it back,
returned it to a face unknown, I feel like such a fool.

I tried my best to help you the same as you did me.
Gave my time, my husbands too to help you keep life real.
Harsh words have past your lips, these I won't repeat.
Stuck in my heart, also my soul, it all seems so unreal!

Well I have a life to lead, a family full of fun and joy.
Was proud to have you with us. Sad it was a ploy
to hurt the ones I love, to weave a web of lies.
So I'm sitting by the river. Tears do fill my eyes
wondering what it is, why tear my heart apart.

The key that you have taken will never be returned.
The heaviness inside my heart has left a scar for sure.
Yes I'm sitting by the river longing for peace of mind,
trying to slow my thoughts down, trying to unwind.

I tried to be the daughter you wanted me to be,
apologize I won't for first loving my family.
They are always there for me, never take away a key,
love me for just who I am, love me cause I'm me!

So I'm sitting by the river, no one by my side,
just the sound of workers and the rippling of the tide.
Wiping away the sadness that my tears have expelled,
smiling at the photo of my family by my side.

Hello Sue,

It is sad what happened with your mom. I lost my mother several years ago. I pray you and your mom will bury the hatchet and become friends again.

God bless,
David
